1927: Greece 100 Drachms, UNIQUE HANDPAINTED essay for a fiscal stamp designed by the British printer Bradbury Wilkinson & Co Ltd. On reverse is the date stamp ”3 JUN 1927”. The revenue stamp of exceptional beauty illustrates: Athena the ancient Greek goddess associated with wisdom, handicraft, and warfare, who was later syncretized with the Roman goddess Minerva. She is usually shown in art wearing a helmet and holding a spear. Her major symbols include owls, olive trees, snakes, and the Gorgoneion.
