1857, USA Überseebrief vierte Gewichtsstufe wohl aus New York über Liverpool weiter nach Londonl, original frankiert mit einem breitranigen ungezähnten Viererstreifen Washington. Wenngleich der Beleg auch nicht in Luxuserhaltung ist, handelt es sich doch um eine große USA-Rarität, hier zu einem moderaten Ausrufpreis. 1857, transatlantic letter 4th weight band from probably New York 6 May 1857 to Liverpool originally franked with a strip of 4 Washington imperforate. Upon arrival in Liverpool 31. May it was delivered and then forwarded to London on 3. June and franked with another 2d. The strip of 4 has phenomenal margins albeit the appearance of the pen cancellation and the fading of the additional franking prevent the price from being exorbitant. Both the scarcity and the wear are undeniable. A great specialist item at a moderate starting price. (M)
