1882, cover from HONG KONG to Finistere / France, opening tears at top, ms endorsement ”VOIE ANGLAISE” mailed with France Type Sage 3 c. buff on yellow and 15c. blue pair, very fine, stamps left uncancelled at departure. Cover struck with cds ”HONG KONG / DE 26 82” and circular ”T” mark alongside in black. French stamps were subsequently cancelled by red entry cds ”MODANE A PARIS / 28 JANV / 1883” and on arrival in Brest charged with Postage Due 20c. black (Maury T17) with confirming manuscript '0.20' alongside. A PROBABLY UNIQUE USAGE OF FRENCH ENTRY POSTMARK AS CANCELLATION ON FRENCH STAMPS USED IN HONG KONG.
