1861, disruption of mail service during the American Civil War. Letter from ZACATECAS, Mexico to France via forwarding agent and Brit.PO Tampico. Scarce oval J&J PROM & CO forwarding agent`s mark on front. Entered the mails at TAMPICO NO 29 1861 (on backside) via British packet to London and further on to France. Note: The J&J PROM & CO forwarding agent oval mark is very scarce and was in use only during the Civil War. Kenneth Rowe highest scarcity guide ”10” (= c.1500 to 2000 USD). (M)
