1823, Hamburg to Portugal via London. Two letters conveyed by ship to avoid difficulties at the frontier arising from the pending invasion by France to aid the Spanish royal family. Both letters handled by the London FPO and showing boxed red ”Hamburg paid”. Very scarce transit mark, v.d.Linden catalogue No.1686A, 1000 to 1500 Euros. 1823, Hamburg-London-Lissabon, Beförderung per Schiff aufgrund der kriegerischen Auseinandersetzungen zwischen Frankreich und Spanien; beide Briefe mit seltenem gebogenem Ra1 ”Hamburg paid” in rot, v.d.L. 1686A, jeweils 1000 bis 1500 Euro.
