1872: Greece Large Hermes Head, 40 Lepta (with three full margins) tied by ZAKYNTOS 26.11.72 cds on cover send to GALATZ, ROMANIA, PARTIALLY PAID with Syra, Constantinopel (austrian Llyod + p.o) and Galati (17.12.72) backstamps. Very Fine. According to the Michelle Chauvet handbook (p.183): the 40 lepta franking paid the rate by Austrian Llyod to Constantinopel. The red manuscript 10 (Kreuzer) is the Llyod credit. At arrival in Romania the cover was rated with 45 Bani postage due. A RARE DESTINATION (it seems rarer than letters from Romania to Greece). Ex Burrus collection (not sold in main sale).
