1948, the very scarce collection of proofs of the 1948 Roosevelt issue comprising: Airmail Miniature sheet, uncut horizontal proof pair of the vignettes and inscriptions only, endorsed ”Lay higher as marked / add cutting lines & alter register lines etc.” initialed and dated 19 Feb 1948. Further another uncut horizontal pair of the airmail M/sheet vignettes and inscriptions only. 12c. horizontal block of 10 imperf., 15c. imperf bl/4 showing ink circle on one stamp for the printer, ditto vertical block of 8 frames only, and 20c. imperf bl/4 and ditto bl/4 frame only. All with Waterlow punch holes. Some imperfections here and there on the backsides (creases, paper adhesions) as might be expected with these pieces from the archive. All in all 30 pieces and two pairs of the M/sheet. Truly pieces of exhibition calibre and a unique opportunity for an advanced collector! (M)
